Park’s Podcast
The story of Park Memorial United Methodist church began in 1890, when Ella Holt Park passed away at age 37. Her husband, Captain Robert E. Park (pictured) built a small red brick church near the Ocmulgee River in Holton, Georgia, as a memorial to his beloved wife. Captain Park was one of Macon's most prominent business leaders and eventually became Treasurer of the state of Georgia. Though the community of Holton was annexed into Macon in 1926, Park Memorial United Methodist Church is still active in its original location, now known as Arkwright Road.
Modern conveniences have replaced wood stoves , kerosene lighting and hitching posts over the years. But Park Memorial still maintains much of the original look from Captain Park's vision. In May 2021, Historic Macon awarded Park Memorial the Katherine Carmichael Oliver Stewardship Award for preservation, ongoing maintenance and upkeep of our historic church.
We appreciate every listener to our weekly service by way of podcast. But there's nothing like being part of Park Memorial's services, in person, while enjoying the historic setting of our beautiful sanctuary. Our service begins at 11:00 a.m. (Eastern Time) every Sunday morning. We conduct a traditional service with a friendly and caring congregation. Everyone will be welcome at Park Memorial United Methodist Church.
